The Pegasus: Adopted as a trademark in the United States shortly after the organization of Socony-Vacuum
in 1931, The symbol was used abroad as long ago as 1911. South Africa was the first to use the Pegasus
as a symbol of power and speed. It was Mobil Sekiyu in Japan, however, that first coloured it red. The
Pegasus in this photo is the model adopted in 1954.
